Despite all this craziness, some of you might still be in the market to buy a home in Oahu. The question is….what can you do to minimize the risk of exposure to all parties, while house hunting during this pandemic? Hi, I’m Fawn Bertram with Homes by Fawn and Hawaii Life Real Estate.
Here are a few ways you can apply safety precautions while still fulfilling your need to buy a home, in the upcoming months. Over the years, I’ve helped many people relocate to Oahu, Hawaii by connecting with them virtually. We can use many of these same techniques, during this time of social distancing.
First, we can do a buyer’s consultation virtually and follow up meetings via Messenger, Zoom Skype, or any other preferred method.
Second, we must do everything we can to ensure you have true interest in the home prior to requesting a showing. This means doing more due diligence prior to requesting a showing. Such as doing a drive-by of the property. Requesting a seller’s disclosure and inquiring about items that are important to you or might be deal-breakers.
Third, be pre-approved and ready to go. We don’t want to waste anyone’s time and safety. If you don’t know who to contact, we can send you a list of top lenders in the area.
Fourth, we can request a showing appointment virtually. We can preview the home via video conferencing. Then only if and only if your interest in the property is high enough, will we request an in-person showing. This will help minimize exposure to all parties involved.
Finally, we must take care to be respectful during showings. Such as practicing sanitary precautions, by wearing masks and gloves, keeping our hands to ourselves, and maintaining social distancing. As for groups of people, only the potential decision-makers should attend.
